The winter holidays are upon us, and there is no better Virginia city to celebrate in than Fredericksburg. The festivities are endless this year, and we cannot wait for you to participate. Here are some exciting events to experience for Holidays in the ‘Burg:
Holiday Open House – from November 12-13, the holiday season will be kicked off in Fredericksburg. From decorated light poles to holiday flags, Holiday Open House is the perfect way to break into the Holiday spirit. Multiple shops and restaurants will be holding discounted items and special deals. Holiday Open House is also the start to Window Wonderland!
Window Wonderland – Many businesses downtown will decorate their windows in honor of the Holiday season, and we invite you to participate in their collective event from November 12-December 30. For Window Wonderland, swing by each decorated window display, and answer each window’s riddle for the chance to win prizes. Participating businesses will be announced shortly.
Children’s Tree Lighting & Jingle Bell Sing-a-Long – On November 19, Hurkamp Park will play host to the Annual Tree Lighting. Live music will play for you to sing-a-long too, and Santa will be prepared to document your list of presents.
30th Annual YMCA Turkey Trot – Sign up online for this Thanksgiving Day tradition. Kids can run the mile starting at 7:00am, and others can run the 5K starting at 7:15am. This is a great way to burn some calories before the gorge.
Small Business Saturday – We in Fredericksburg take pride in our wonderful small businesses, and the Holiday Season is the perfect time of year to support them. After Thanksgiving on November 26th, come on downtown for Small Business Saturday, and benefit these wonderful stores, restaurants, and many others!
Christmas Parade – One of the most exciting events for the Holidays in Fredericksburg is the annual Christmas Parade on December 3rd. The streets fill up with attendees, so prepare to find a spot early to watch the parade!
HFFI Annual Candlelight Tour – Some of the most historical homes in Fredericksburg participate in the Candlelight Tour. From December 9-11, take a self-guided tour of these incredible houses, and learn more of their vast history. Tickets are required.
