Make a weekend in Fredericksburg out of Fredtoberfest

trolley in front of rising sun tavernThe second annual Fredtoberfest, hosted by 6 Bears & A Goat Brewing, will take over Virginia Credit Union Stadium on Saturday, October 7th, from 12:00-7:00pm. After a successful first year, Fredtoberfest will feature over 50 breweries, most of which are from throughout Virginia. But if you are visiting Fredericksburg for the event, why not make a weekend out of your trip? Here are some ways to make for a wonderful Fredoberfest weekend.

On Friday night, enjoy a happy hour and dinner at the gorgeous Harry’s Sidecar, where you can enjoy their Porterhouse Pork Chop while sipping on a Bohemian Paradise cocktail, as well as their fine selection of draft beer. Right next door to Harry’s is Blue Cow, where you can finish your night with their scrumptious Pumpkin Ice Cream in a homemade waffle cone.

It is always a great idea to fuel up before a day of beer guzzling, so head over to Mason-Dixon Cafe or 2400 Diner for a delicious, hearty breakfast. Once you have eaten, prepare yourselves for the fun that is Fredtoberfest. Uber over to Virginia Credit Union Stadium, and experience all of the breweries, cideries, food, and vendors that Fredtoberfest is featuring, from local breweries like Highmark and Adventure, to Port City from Alexandria and Brothers Craft from Harrisonburg. The IPAs, porters, lagers and other ales to consume are endless! Should you drink responsibly (which is always recommended) throughout the day, enjoy a late-night meal (and nightcap?) at Rebellion Bourbon Bar or Benny Vitali’s Pizza

Sunday morning, it is assumed that you will need copious amounts of coffee, which you can purchase downtown at Agora Coffee Downtown, Katora Coffee, 25 30 Espresso or Curitiba Art Cafe. After you have had your first five cups of coffee, top it off with a hangover brunch at The Alpine Chef (particularly if you took the Amtrak to Fredericksburg, considering the restaurant is right next to the train station). And if you have time, and are in need of some fresh air, take a Trolley Tour of Fredericksburg to learn the history of this wonderful city.

There is no need to limit your weekend fun to just Fredtoberfest, and Fredericksburg has plenty of options as to how you can enjoy your time here! Purchase Fredtoberfest tickets.
