Two Family-Friendly Events Kicking Off in Fredericksburg

Spring has sprung in Fredericksburg, and there’s no better time to soak up sunshine, enjoy local music, and make lasting memories with the family. Two community-favorite events are kicking off this month: Picnic in the Park and Concert by Canoe, offering fresh air, fun vibes, and entertainment the whole family can enjoy.

A beloved local tradition since 1997, Picnic in the Park is back to brighten your Tuesdays with live music, delicious food, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Hosted by Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation & Events, this free concert series invites everyone to take a break and enjoy the best of downtown Fredericksburg.

Imagine listening to live music as you gently float on a scenic reservoirβ€”Concert by Canoe makes it possible! This unique event turns Motts Run Reservoir into a natural concert hall, with performers playing from the pier while guests enjoy the view from the water.

  • May 27: Alpha Jerk

Guests are welcome to bring their own non-motorized boats (no gas motors or SUPs allowed) or rent one (limited number of boats available, reserve yours early!), and all participants must wear a PFD. Pack a picnic dinner, grab your paddle, and prepare for a one-of-a-kind evening surrounded by music and nature.

Please note: no fishing during the concerts, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
