Please join us in celebrating the current exhibitions of the UMW Galleries from September 4 until October 10!
Intersection:
In the Ridderhof Martin Gallery, experience Intersection, a two-person exhibition of artwork by Arlington artists David Carlson and Chee Kung.
Curated by Sarah Hardesty, this exhibition brings together the process-oriented abstract paintings of Carlson and the geometric mixed-media sculptures of Kung, resulting in a dialogue that speaks to movement, memory, and space. The exhibition will be punctuated by a large installation by Kung in the main room and a multi-part video installation by Carlson in the side room.
Gallery Talk for Intersection: October 9, 5-6pm
Take a Painting:
In DuPont Gallery, you are invited to participate in Take A Painting, an interactive painting installation by Pennsylvania artist Erika Stearly.
From September to mid-October, the gallery will be partially transformed into an art studio, in which visitors can produce new paintings to exchange for one of the small paintings Stearly provides. This community-driven creative project will be constantly changing over the course of the show as paintings are removed and replaced along the gallery walls.
