Founded by public historian Joseph McGill, Jr., the Slave Dwelling Project works to preserve and interpret historic spaces connected to the lives of enslaved people and ensure their stories are recognized as a vital part of the American narrative.
Through living history demonstrations, conversations, and special programs at local historic sites, Voices of the Past invites visitors to explore the experiences, resilience, and contributions of enslaved communities. This collaborative weekend brings together historic sites, scholars, descendants, and the public to engage with history in meaningful and honest ways.
