FXBG Walks – Unique Guided Walking Tours of Fredericksburg

FXBG Walks is a guided walking tour of Fredericksburg, Virginia, led by historian and history teacher Barbra.
Tours will dive into unique sites and stories that can only be experienced in Fredericksburg.

👟 Tours happen rain or shine.
👟 Tours will cover about one mile and last 1.5-2 hours.
👟 Tickets are $15 per person, plus $1 processing fee (children under 10 are free). Tickets can be purchased in advance online. If the walk is not sold out, tickets can be purchased at the Visitor Center on the day of the tour.

May 11 – In the Footsteps of George Washington

Explore Fredericksburg through the eyes of our own founding father. Visit his favorite places in town, including bars, stores, and homes of his friends and family.

June 8 – Fighting in the Streets

Learn how the Union forces took over Fredericksburg in advance of the famous battle at Sunken Road. Walk in the footsteps of the 20th Massachusetts and see where 100 men were killed in one block.

July 13 – Retro Retail: Shopping Downtown in the 1950’s

Walk back in time to when Caroline Street was the only place to shop for 30 miles, showcasing plenty of old photos and ads to show off mid-century Fredericksburg.

August 10 – Right up your Alley

Explore the back streets and untold stories of Fredericksburg. Learn about the town’s early neighborhoods as we walk through some of the city’s oldest alleyways.

September 14 – Walk for Freedom: Black History

Celebrate our city’s Black heroes!  Learn stories about intriguing Black spies, soldiers, developers, teachers, and doctors who helped make Fredericksburg what it is today.

October 12 – Prohibition!

Discover the speakeasies of Fredericksburg as we trace the history of bars in Fredericksburg, focusing on the struggle between the wets and the drys.

November 9 – Fredericksburg Feminists: Sisters in Suffrage

Learn about early suffrage efforts in Virginia and Fredericksburg and the local heroes who helped it happen. In honor of Election Day, celebrate the anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment.
