A Solar Eclipse in Fredericksburg

On Monday, April 8th, we are embracing an exciting natural phenomenon: a solar eclipse in Fredericksburg. The solar eclipse will occur over Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between Earth and the Sun, entirely blocking the Sun, therefore darkening the sky. The duration of the eclipse will be up to 4 minutes and 27 seconds, which is almost double the eclipse from 2017. In Fredericksburg, the moon will cover 87.9 percent of sun at the peak of the eclipse.

Fredericksburg timeline is:
Begins: Mon, Apr 8, 2024 at 2:03 pm
Maximum: Mon, Apr 8, 2024 at 3:19 pm
Ends: Mon, Apr 8, 2024 at 4:32 pm
Duration: 2 hours, 29 minutes

Safety is the number one priority, so if you intend to watch the eclipse, protect your eyes with special glasses. You can read more about Eclipse Safety here.

Where to watch the eclipse? Swing by Old Mill, Memorial, Hurkamp, or Riverfront Parks to fully experience the beautiful solar eclipse.
