Renowned artist Johnny P. Johnson made history as the first Black professor at Mary Washington College, (now the University of Mary Washington). Johnson inspired many students during his tenure. This mural was dedicated in his honor to commemorate Johnson’s work through Citizens United for Action, Fredericksburg Area Community Relations Council (FACRO), Council on Human Relations, and the NAACP.
