LibertyTown Arts Workshop, started in 2002 by local artist and visionary Dan Finnegan in what was once the plumbing supply house for the long gone Fredericksburg Hardware store. He had a dream to turn the cavernous space into many smaller studios for local artists to rent at reasonable costs. By all accounts, he was wildly successful. In 2013 he turned the ropes over to D.D. and Kenneth Lecky. Both artists in their own right (a potter and a photographer). The two met while attending UVA in 2002 and bonded over their love of art and science…and dogs!
The 13,000 square foot gallery on two floors, has over 40 local craftspeople and artists. Artists create and show right on site in 27+ active studio spaces. We have potters, wood workers, encaustic artists, sculptors, glass artists, oil painters, pastel artists, water colorists, and fiber art.
