Rappahannock Railroad Museum

Come by the Rappahannock Railroad Museum on a Saturday morning between 9am-12pm and visit our two cabooses, baggage car, and newly opened museum buildings, featuring operating model railroad layouts of various gauges!

Climb aboard an original Caboose and see how the train crew lived. Walk through our restored Railway Express Messenger Car from 1927 and experience the way packages were most often sent from city to city before and during World War II.

Our newly opened museum buildings provide climate controlled viewing of the tools and other materials used by the railroads from an early 1830-1850 style rail up through modern day electric lanterns and more.  Visit our Model Railroad building with detailed operating model railroads in G, O, HO, N and Z scales.

There is no reservations required or admission fee to pay, however, your donations being the sole operating revenue for the upkeep of the buildings and the equipment are greatly appreciated.

The Little Yellow Train

Our main attraction is the ‘Little Yellow Train’; an open air ~45 minute ride on restored Maintenance of Way equipment.

ℹ️ Latest updates can be found on the Rappahannock Railroad Museum Facebook page.
