Shannon Airport (KEZF) of Fredericksburg, Virginia is one of the most historic general aviation airports in the country. New things are here, including a newly renovated and refurbished terminal with new restrooms, a pilot planning room with public computers, and free wireless Internet.
The terminal is set up as a walk through museum in regards to, the history of Shannon Airport, as well as the history of the battle of Fredericksburg at the Slaughter Pen Farm, in Spotsylvania County, which the airport sits adjacent to and is part of. The Shannon Air Museum has on display one of the rarest collection of rare aircraft in the world. The museum has the only Vultee V1A, in the world, as well as many artifacts from Eastern Airlines, of which Sid Shannon Sr, and Eddie Rickenbacker were original founders.
For convenience to all pilots who are qualified drivers, there is a crew car that can be checked out for up to two hours to explore the area.
