If you were asked to design the flag for the new United States of America…What would it look like?
America250 Art Contest Rules
- Grades 4 – 5
- Prize will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners
- A Gift Card will also be given to the teacher of each winner
- The art, using any medium, must depict the flag that the student has created for the new country.
- It must be on an 8 ½” by 11” white paper.
- The student’s full name must be written on the BACK of the art. No names on the front.
- Art must be turned in with the attached registration form, signed by the child’s parent.
- Art is due between February 6-13, 2026
- Bring artwork to the 3rd floor Adult Services Desk at the Fredericksburg Branch of the Central
Rappahannock Regional Library (CRRL), 1201 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg. - The winner’s teacher will be notified via email after the contest deadline. It is the teacher’s
responsibility to contact the student and family. - Digital images of all art may be reproduced and displayed as part of the SPARKLE event.
- Art will be available for pickup at the conclusion of the exhibit, the first week of March 2026. Any art not picked up by March 7 will be discarded.
Exhibition Location: Atrium, Fredericksburg Branch of the Library
Exhibition Dates: February 16- 28, 2026
Opening Reception: February 20, 2026, 7:00-8:30 PM. Winners will be announced that night!
Prizes: Winners will receive an America250 Certificate and a book related to the American Revolution. The teacher of each winner will receive a gift card to be used for classroom art supplies:
1st place winner will receive a $50 gift card; 2nd place winner will receive a $35 gift card, and
the 3rd place winner will receive a $10 gift card.
