Cultural Quilt Lecture Series: Ghana

Discover the remarkable story connecting Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Prince’s Town, Ghana, during this special presentation in the A Cultural Quilt lecture series.

Award-winning Ghanaian digital media producer and storyteller Oral Ofori will explore the centuries-old historical ties between the two communities, from the origins of Fort Friedericksburg in Prince’s Town to the establishment of the official Sister City relationship in 2006. Through powerful storytelling, Ofori will examine the shared history, cultural connections, and ongoing partnerships that continue to strengthen the bond between the two cities.

This special evening will also feature Prof. Hon. Lord Owusu Mensah, Mayor of Prince’s Town, Ghana, making his first official visit to Fredericksburg. The Tema Choir USA will perform, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the nearly completed health clinic in Prince’s Town and ways to support the project.

Presented as part of A Cultural Quilt: Fredericksburg’s Sister City Countries and Their Influence on the Fabric of America, this free lecture series celebrates the cultural connections between Fredericksburg’s Sister Cities and the United States as part of Virginia’s commemoration of America’s 250th Anniversary.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
