On behalf of the Grand Lodge of Virginia, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 cordially invites the community to attend a wreath laying ceremony honoring General George Weedon, Revolutionary War patriot, Fredericksburg civic leader and Virginia Freemason.
The ceremony will be held Saturday, January 10th, at 2 o’clock p.m., at the Fredericksburg Masonic
General Weedon began his career as a Lieutenant under George Washington in the French and Indian War. His tavern on Caroline Street was a known meeting spot for patriots. During the Revolutionary War, he assumed command of the 3rd Virginia Regiment following General Hugh Mercer’s death at the Battle of Princeton, and at Yorktown, his troops blocked Cornwallis’ escape route. He was elected Worshipful Master of Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4 in 1783. His life stands as a testament to civic virtue and industry.
