VASP SERIES: Henry Skerritt: Exploring Indigenous Australian Art

Welcome to UMW Galleries and UMW Arts’ Visiting Artists and Speakers series! We bring in acclaimed artists and historians from around the country to discuss their processes and research. All lectures are free and open to the public!

Henry Skerritt is Assistant Professor in the Department of Art and Curator of Research at the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection of the University of Virginia. Skerritt will share his research on the engagement of Indigenous peoples with the institutions of art and the role of Indigenous communities in curating their own art histories.
