Month of the Military Child

Dan & IsaacIsaac Ealy loves to surf. A 17 year-old high school junior, he took up the hobby of surfing while he was living in California for the third time. San Clemente, California was Isaac’s favorite place that he lived. He loved the weather, his outdoor school, and the “beachey” culture of San Clemente. Isaac is the son of Major Daniel Ealy, United States Marine Corps. And while Fredericksburg will be his home until graduating from high school, Isaac has enjoyed the travel and moves that being that son of a military service member have entailed.

April is the Month of the Military Child, in which we celebrate the bravery that kids of service members have shown. As a military child, Isaac has spent his life moving to new homes. He has always enjoyed moving, as opposed to living somewhere permanently. He enjoys experiencing new places, and enjoys primarily living near the water, like he did in San Clemente.

“I don’t know what I’m gonna do whenever I’m not moving,” he said.

Isaac has lived in multiple states a number of times, including twice in Virginia and three times in California. Occasionally he considers following in his father’s footsteps to join the military, as he has witnessed how his father has created lasting friendships throughout his career. For Isaac, he sees the marine corps as a big family.

“When they’re with each other, they act like kids,” he said.

By the end of this month, we hope that you will take the time to acknowledge the military children in your life. We salute these wonderful kids like Isaac during the Month of the Military Child.
