Throughout the month of February, many businesses have teamed up with the Washington-Lewis chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution to honor their favorite veterans in Fredericksburg. This movement is called “Our Hearts Sparkle for These Veterans.”
Participating businesses decorate their windows in honor of the veterans that they celebrate. The window displays will be up from February 2-26, and each will honor a specific veteran with their photo and story of heroism. This year, there will be a contest to award the Best Window Display.
“When I created this event, my goal was to showcase local veterans and say a HUGE THANK YOU for their Service,” Committee Chairman Kim Harmon said. “Veterans are some of the humblest folks I know…I’m deeply grateful for them and their families’ sacrifice to keep us and our country safe. ”
“Our Hearts Sparkle for These Veterans” is a great way for local businesses to support the troops, and supporting these businesses is a great way to celebrate those in uniform.
