What led the US Army of the Potomac and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia to clash in May of 1863? Join park staff to learn about the events of the Battle of Chancellorsville and how these events shaped the war to come.

Ellwood & Wilderness Battlefield
Wilderness Exhibit Shelter – open-air exhibit shelter. Open sunrise to sunset.
The grounds around Ellwood are open sunrise to sunset, even when the house is closed.
Ellwood Manor Building open daily, 9am – 5pm.
To access the grounds, park at the Ellwood Manor gate, leaving the gate clear, and walk .4 miles to the grounds.

Ranger Programs at Wilderness Battlefield

Opening of the Overland Campaign
Daily, 10 am & 2 pm, 30 minutes
Meet at Ellwood Manor.

Join us for this talk that investigates the Battle of the Wilderness and Grant’s 1864 Overland Campaign.

Bloody Angle Walking Tour

Meet at the Bloody Angle, Tour Stop #3, on the Spotsylvania Battlefield.

Join park staff at the Bloody Angle to learn about how the war was changing in the spring of 1864.
