On Friday, October 6th from 5-8pm, The Fredericksburg Workshop will be re-opening its Gallery and Lounge to the public. The gallery will showcase the work of local artisans, from woodworkers to glass blowers. The lounge will operate as a classroom that will host classes such as basket weaving and upholstery.
The Workshop has been open for eight years, and with their re-opening on First Friday, Marketing Director Rebecca Keene says that they intend to further assimilate into the downtown Fredericksburg experience. She also said that they want to showcase local artwork that people would not otherwise see.
“A lot of our artisans don’t have social media,” Keene said. “We want them to be able to have their art be a part of the art community, so we’re trying to facilitate that in any way we can.”
With the re-opening of the Gallery and Lounge, Keene wants people to become more aware of The Workshop, as well as the materials and classes that they offer. The Workshop will offer raffles and prizes throughout the re-opening, and intend to make the event as exciting as possible.
