What do a tiny paintbrush, googly eyes, and downtown Fredericksburg have in common? They’re all part of a brand-new scavenger hunt that turns gallery hopping into a game!
Launched by the Fredericksburg Arts Commission, the Find Freddy Scavenger Hunt is a free, family-friendly way to explore the city’s incredible art galleries, spot something unexpected, and earn a fun prize along the way.
What Is Find Freddy?
It’s part art walk, part detective game! Freddy is a playful paintbrush hiding out in galleries across downtown Fredericksburg. He’s got a flair for fashion and loves dressing up for each stop. Your job? Find him and take note of his look.
The hunt officially kicks off on First Friday (August 1, 2025)—but don’t worry if you miss opening night. This is an ongoing activity you can enjoy any day of the week, at your own pace.
How to Play:
- Start at the FXBG Visitor Center (601 Caroline Street) to pick up your Find Freddy scavenger hunt sheet.
- Visit at least three participating galleries (list below).
- Find Freddy at each stop—he’s a small, hidden paintbrush wearing a costume.
- Return your completed sheet to a prize pickup location to receive a prize!
