BOO!
Now that you’re terrified, we can prepare you for some Halloween horrors…and fun. Lots of fun. From learning of the spirits that haunt the city to spine-tingling haunted attractions, here are some ways to experience frights in FXBG:
- Dead Whispers Haunted Attractions – Fredericksburg’s scariest tradition returns to the Fairgrounds—featuring an all new attraction for 2025! Immerse yourself in themed rooms, challenging mazes, eerie hallways, and enjoy delicious food and drinks in a spine-chilling atmosphere. Enter if you dare.
- Halls of Hysteria – From October 10th through November 1st, step into your darkest nightmares at the Halls of Hysteria, where fear lurks around every corner. This isn’t your average Halloween scare — it’s a twisted labyrinth of terror designed for the brave (and the foolish). Wander through shadowy graveyards, get lost in a corn maze filled with unspeakable horrors, and face off with deranged clowns and restless spirits who don’t take kindly to visitors. This event is not for children — it’s built for thrill-seeking adults who want to be truly terrified.
- Ghost Walking Tours – With Haunted Tours, you can tour the haunted locations in Fredericksburg…and may even see a ghost (not the Casper kind). On Saturdays and Sundays in October at 3:30pm, tour the Fredericksburg Cemetery and listen to the haunting tales of former Fredericksburgians.
- History Walks Ghost Tours – Step into the shadows of Fredericksburg’s past with a spine-chilling ghost tour held under the eerie glow of the moon. This 90 minute walking tour takes you through the city’s most haunted streets, where echoes of the past linger and restless spirits are said to roam. Tours are available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October at 6pm and 8pm and depart from the Fredericksburg Visitor Center.
- Public Witches, Ghost, Murder and Mayhem Carriage Tour – Your guide—equal parts historian and storyteller—will share true tales of ghostly encounters, unsolved mysteries, and long-departed souls who still linger. Pass by haunted homes, darkened alleys, and Civil War hospitals where the cries of the wounded are said to echo still. Feel the temperature drop near notorious hot spots… and keep your eyes open—you never know who (or what) might appear beside the carriage. Available September through November, for a fall full of spooky fun!
- Haunted History Model A Car Tour – Hop aboard a vintage Model A and ride around the city as your guide tells spooky takes of Fredericksburg’s past.
- Scarecrow Fest – While passing through downtown Fredericksburg, you may have noticed a lack of birds. That is because we are in the midst of Scarecrow Fest 2025. Grab a map and search downtown for these creative, historical, and terrifying scarecrows! Scarecrow Fest will take place the entire month of October, concluding with the selection of the best scarecrows!
