A Fantastic Fall in Fredericksburg

Scarecrows and PumpkinsA fall in Fredericksburg is the best type of fall. This season of autumn, Fredericksburg is stepping up to the fall ball plate with a number of exciting events. Here are some wonderful, seasonal options for enjoying fall in Fredericksburg:

Farm Fun:

  1. Fall Festival Weekends at Braehead Farm – Every weekend from September 27th through October 26th, Braehead Farm will host its Fall Festival. Swing by this homey, lovely farm for hayrides, a corn maze, pumpkin patches, and more family fun!
  2. Fall Harvest Festival at Belvedere Plantation – One of the many festivals this fall can be enjoyed at Belvedere Plantation. Enjoy fun family-friendly attractions including pedal carts, racing slides, the Fun Barn, and the Olde Barnyard petting zoo. Visit on weekends (Thursday-Sunday) from September 13th-November 1st. 

Adult Sips:

  1. Oktoberfests – A handful of exciting Oktoberfests will take place in the heart of Fredericksburg this season, including celebrations at Alpine Chef, and 6 Bears & A Goat. It’s time to practice your German! 
  2. Virginia Cider Festival – The hard cider sensation is alive and well in Virginia, and Fredericksburg is no exception. The Virginia Cider Festival will be at Fredericksburg Fairgrounds, from 11:00am – 4:00pm on September 6th. Bring your friends and enjoy the taste of Virginia!
  3. Big Whiskey Festival– On November 1st, sample a wide variety of whiskeys, bourbons, and ryes from top distillers, enjoy craft cocktails, and discover new favorites.

All-Around Fun:

  1. Riverfest – Riverfest returns on September 20th from 3-8pm and is the perfect way to celebrate the environment of our beloved city with a crab feast, BBQ, entertainment, raffles, and more!
  2. Art Attack – On Saturday, October 4th, stroll the streets of downtown Fredericksburg and immerse yourselves in all forms of artistic expression. Art Attack FXBG is a grassroots event where local artists can share their creative endeavors publicly, displaying and working on their art all throughout the sidewalks of downtown Fredericksburg.
  3. Fall Arts & Craft Show – Visit the Fredericksburg Convention Center on October 11-12th to find local jewelry, art, and decorations that bring the spirit of fall into your home.

  1. Scarecrow Fest – Through the month of October, scarecrows will be taking over the streets of downtown Fredericksburg. Vote for your favorite!
  2. Halloween Movies in the Park – Grab a blanket and head to Riverfront Park on October 11th for a spooky movie night!
  3. Costume Stroll & Treats on the Street – Grab your costume and stroll the streets of downtown Fredericksburg for delicious sweets on October 25th. Meet at the VRE Lot (Caroline and Frederick Streets at 9:15am) for the Costume Stroll at 9:30 am. Walking, stroller, or wagons only. No motorized vehicles, floats, pets or bikes. From 10:00am to 12:00pm on October 25th, participating businesses will be handing out treats; you can find which businesses are participating by balloons outside.
  4. Halloween at the FXBG Farmers Market – Bring the family over to Hurkamp Park on Saturday, October 25th to celebrate the spooky season with games, crafts, trick-or-treating, and more!
  5. Dead Whispers Haunted Attraction – From October 23rd – November 1st at the Fairgrounds, immerse yourself in themed rooms, challenging mazes, eerie hallways, and enjoy delicious food and drinks in a spine-chilling atmosphere.
    • New for 2025: Two spooktacular experiences! Walk the halls of the old Victorian-style indoor Haunted House or take a trip on the all-new Haunted Hayride, “Harvest of Shadows.”
  6. Fredericksburg Hauntings Ghost Tours – Combining history with mysterious tales of the still lurking dead, period attired guides conduct an approximate 90 minute, comfortably-paced, candlelight walking tour, filling your evening with folklore and stories spawned when 100,000 fell in the Civil War battles that took place in and around the town.
  7. History Walks FXBG Ghost Tours – Step into the shadows of Fredericksburg’s past with a spine-chilling ghost tour held under the eerie glow of the moon. This 90 minute walking tour takes you through the city’s most haunted streets, where echoes of the past linger and restless spirits are said to roam.
