Art Reception at Fredericksburg Visitor Center this Friday, September 1st

This Friday, September 1st, the Fredericksburg Visitor Center will be open late not only for First Friday, but for the opening reception of the newest art exhibition in the auditorium. Swing by between 5 and 7pm to experience the glorious work of local artists Dolores Williams Bumbrey and Charlotte Greene Richards.

Bumbrey and Richards’ gorgeous art will be featured at the Visitor Center until October 1st, and Friday’s reception allows you the opportunity to learn more from the artists themselves on their inspirations and methods. Bumbrey, for example, focuses primarily on oil painting, acrylic painting, graphite pencil drawing and mixed media.

“I believe that Art is very much like music in its ability to touch, inspire and uplift,” Bumbrey said. “I use both of my God-Given gifts of Art and Song as a way of helping people, providing them a temporary sense of peace.”

A retired art teacher, Charlotte Greene Richards is an award-winning, revered artist.

“Painting is a constant series of making decisions,” she said. “It is a balancing act of knowing and following the rules as well as breaking some of them.”

You can meet Bumbrey and Richards this Friday at the Visitor Center, and can experience their wonderful art throughout September. Fredericksburg Visitor Center is located at 706 Caroline Street.
